1.9 million euros for new community centers in Grattersdorf and Hunding!

As part of the urban development funding, the communities of Grattersdorf and Hunding will receive a total of 1.9 million euros PNP reported. These funds were announced by State Minister Christian Bernreiter and are intended to contribute to the upgrading of the two places. In Grattersdorf, the conversion of the former school building into a community center is being supported with 320,000 euros.

The total costs of the measures in Grattersdorf amount to 2.6 million euros. The work, which began in 2022, also includes the redesign of the town center, which will create additional parking spaces and green spaces. It is planned to prepare the open spaces at the community center this year.

Construction projects in Hunding

The municipality of Hunding also benefits from urban development funding. The redesign of the town center and the banks of the stream is being funded with 1.6 million euros. The total cost of these measures is 3.8 million euros. Completion in Hunding is scheduled for mid-2027. A clear focus of the projects is on accessibility, climate protection and improving the quality of stay.

In addition to the urban development funding, the Grattersdorf local council inspected the construction progress at the community center with a kindergarten extension grattersdorf.de reported. Mayor Robert Schwankl expressed his delight at the almost complete completion of the community center, which will soon be occupied by the daycare center. Only the furniture, a kitchen and the lettering on the facade are still missing.

Important details about the community center

The new community center offers space for various club activities, with two community halls, a workroom and a gymnastics room. Publicly accessible toilets and a storage room are also available. On the ground floor there is also the mayor's room, a citizens' office and a chair storage area.

The upper floor houses a library and a mother-child group, all of which are barrier-free and accessible via an outside elevator. The kindergarten, which went into operation a few weeks ago, has renovated its outdoor area and was equipped with new play equipment. A defibrillator now has a new place at the entrance to the community center.

For the entire measure, which includes the kindergarten project, the community center and the redesign of the village infrastructure, total gross costs of around 6.6 million euros are planned. These cost overruns were caused by factors such as Corona, the Ukraine war, delivery difficulties and increased construction prices. Despite these challenges, financing for the overall project remains secure, and Treasurer Patrick Eder plans for the community to become debt-free in 2025, as current loans are due to be repaid in full next year.
