Bac-Kan on the rise: economic growth and tourism are booming!

On May 27, 2025, the Bac Kan Provincial People's Committee held a regular meeting at which positive socio-economic developments in the current month were reported. Spring crop production has been on track, while livestock production remains stable and disease control is working well. In addition, reforestation represented an important achievement: over 50% of the annual plan has already been achieved.

The province's budget revenue exceeded VND368 billion, an increase of 17% year-on-year. Industrial production also showed positive progress, with an estimated value of VND164 billion. Public investment disbursements reached VND978.78 billion, an increase of 11%. Total retail sales of goods and services amounted to nearly VND1,000 billion, while the tourism sector recorded a total of over 731,000 visitors in the first five months, with 205,000 visitors per month.

Challenges and solutions

A representative of the Ministry of Finance reported existing limitations and difficulties in the province, including the slow disbursement of public investments and capital for national target programs. A slight decline in some industrial production indicators compared to the previous month as well as damage from natural disasters in several regions were also discussed.

Nguyen Dang Binh, chairman of the People's Committee, stressed the need for effective administration. He called on communities to increase their focus on agricultural production and accelerate public investment projects, especially key projects and national target programs. Strengthening trade promotion and boosting tourism were also highlighted as key measures.

Preparations for future meetings

In preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Provincial People's Council in mid-2025, various important content was discussed. These include, among other things, reports on changes in the use of rice cultivation areas and forests as well as draft resolutions on adjusting expenditure estimates for national target programs. Information was also provided about land acquisition for projects in the current year and changes to the rules on budget allocation and decentralization.

In summary, the meeting in Bac Kan shows both positive developments and challenges that need to be overcome. The impressions and data on the current situation provide valuable insight into the socio-economic situation of the province and the strategic approaches for further improvement.
