DRK Aalen is optimistic about the future: millions are being invested in the region

On May 28, 2025, the 75th regular district meeting of the DRK district association Aalen e.V. took place in the Alamannenhalle. More than 119 delegates from 36 local associations as well as numerous guests from local politics and other blue light organizations came together to reflect on the challenges and successes of the past year. The district association chairman Dr. In his speech, Gunter Bühler spoke about natural disasters, demographic developments and the importance of volunteer work in the region.

Mayor Andrea Schnele opened the meeting and praised the tireless commitment of the DRK district association in Aalen. A special thank you went to Petra Papp, who was recognized for her many years of work in organizing the district meeting.

Investments and achievements in 2024

In 2024, the Aalen DRK district association invested over 9.5 million euros in various projects. An outstanding project was the new construction of a senior center in Bopfingen, for which the symbolic “excavator bite” was celebrated and which involved an investment volume of 25.8 million euros. The East Württemberg Integrated Control Center in Aalen, with construction costs of around 25 million euros, is also half financed by the Ostalb and Heidenheim districts and by statutory health insurance companies.

The voluntarily organized medical transport support group carried out over 120 trips in 2024. Florian Wiedmann was awarded the Aalen District Association's Medal of Merit for his services. In addition, the Aalen DRK district association recorded a proud number of members: 1,276 active members, 14,028 supporting members and 471 Youth Red Cross members in 21 groups. There are 989 employees working in the main office, including 92 trainees.

Emergency service and balance sheet

In 2024, over 34,000 missions were carried out in the rescue service, while the driving service covered more than a million kilometers. Treasurer Manfred Fischer reported a net profit of around 30,000 euros, which underlines the solid financial basis of the association. District Administrator Dr. Bläse and other guests praised the importance of the DRK for the region and the good cooperation within the Blaulicht family.

The next district meeting will take place on May 13, 2026 in Hüttlingen. It was also announced at the meeting that Petra Papp will be retiring at the end of the year. She received a bouquet of flowers as a thank you for her commitment.

Volunteering and training

Volunteering at the DRK offers many opportunities to get involved and experience mutual support. The volunteers are deployed according to their individual strengths and decide how they spend their time.
