ESG as a compass: Vietnam's path to sustainable investments revealed!
With a clear focus on sustainability and responsible investing, the Vietnam ESG Investment Conference 2025 caused a stir on May 13 in Ho Chi Minh City. Craig Martin, Chairman of Dynam Capital Investment Fund, spoke during the event about the role of ESG (environmental, social, governance) and described it as an essential “compass” for companies seeking to make sustainable investment decisions. According to him, Vietnam is increasingly viewed as an attractive destination country that offers strong growth potential and is characterized by an improved legal environment, reports Vietnam.vn.
Martin highlighted that investors are demanding a clear and consistent direction in Vietnam's politics and corporate governance. Dynam Capital Fund manages a portfolio of approximately 25 listed companies in the country. The evaluation of the companies is not only limited to ESG criteria, but also takes into account the entire company management and environmental impact. The companies in the portfolio achieve ESG scores between 50 and 65%, which is considered normal.
Focus on long-term change
A central aspect of the fund is the observation of companies over a period of five to seven years in order to identify real changes and progress in the implementation of ESG standards. Mimi Vu, co-founder of the conference, underlined that ESG is an indispensable part of doing business and that policies should aim to align with national development strategies while meeting international requirements.
Peter Hauggaard, CEO of Ecolean Vietnam, emphasized the need for awareness of transformation and implementation of ESG standards. These initiatives attract investors and position Vietnam as a potential destination country, particularly due to its rapidly increasing economic potential and continuous efforts to improve the investment environment.
Overall, it can be said that ESG is not only a necessary prerequisite for investment decisions, but is also seen as an integral part of the strategic direction of companies. The conference provided a platform to discuss in detail the importance of responsible investing in Vietnam. You can find more information on this topic at Vietcetera.
