The Invest investor fair in Stuttgart offers an alternative form of financial advice that is primarily aimed at young consumers up to their early 30s. Platforms such as Finanzfluss, founded by Thomas Kehl and Arno Krieger, offer comparison calculators for various financial topics such as current accounts, fixed-term and daily deposits as well as ETF savings plans. Despite the aim of providing guidance, Krieger points out that commissions may be incurred when clicking on advertising links or purchasing products.
The use of trading apps has boomed during the pandemic, particularly among young people, giving them easy access to capital markets. According to Professor Alexandra Niessen-Ruenzi from the University of Mannheim, digital natives use this route more often than older people. Different investment behavior between younger and older investors is reflected in trading volumes and order sizes.
The Invest investor fair in Stuttgart presents around 130 exhibitors, with consumer advocates such as Niels Nauhauser being critical of risky investment and trading strategies. In addition to traditional investments, investments in diamonds, solar parks or precious metals are also advertised. The bank in the diocese of Essen, for example, offers microfinance funds that benefit disadvantaged population groups in emerging and developing countries.
