Great progress! New access road to the Rach Mieu 2 bridge opened
On June 16, 2025, the provincially funded access road to the Rach Mieu 2 bridge was ceremoniously inaugurated and put into operation. This project, registered under number 05-DA/TU and dated January 29, 2021, is part of a comprehensive initiative to promote socio-economic development in the region from 2020 to 2025 with a vision to 2030. The aim is to sustainably improve the construction, transport and logistics infrastructure in order to support the gray everyday life of local residents as well as trade.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party already issued Resolution No. 428-QD/TU on April 22, 2022, in which it ordered the strengthening of the Steering Committee for Propaganda and Mobilization Work in the Province. This is a critical step to effectively integrate transportation infrastructure planning and construction into the overall provincial planning for 2021-2030. These measures were approved by the Prime Minister in his Decision No. 1399/QD-TTg on November 17, 2023.
Integration of transport projects
The development of modern, connected road transport infrastructure is seen as crucial to the province's socio-economic development. Currently, the local transport system is closely linked to national roads, including the QL.60, QL.57, QL.57B and QL.57C, which play an essential role in trade and transport.
Some significant completed projects include the modernization of the QL.57 from Dinh Khao to Mo Cay and the modernization of the QL.57B to the Giao Long Industrial Park. The DH.173 project from the Chau Thanh Martyrs' Cemetery to the 516 Battalion Memorial and the dike construction project to prevent salt water ingress (Phase 1) were also successfully completed. However, the focus is not only on completed projects, but also on numerous current and future projects.
Current and planned projects
Ongoing projects include the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, the bridge access road project, and the road and dike between Mo Cay Nam and Thanh Phu (Project DH.17). Furthermore, the road from Giao Long Port to Phu Thuan Industrial Park is being planned and the Ba Lai 8 bridge project is also being pushed forward. In total, the invested capital for projects in the period from 2020 to 2025 amounts to VND 28,967 billion, with VND 4,148 billion already invested in completed projects and VND 11,884 billion available for projects under construction.
- Abgeschlossene Projekte: 4.148 Milliarden VND
- Projekte im Bau: 11.884 Milliarden VND
- Geplante Projekte: 12.935 Milliarden VND
The province is characterized by a network of large rivers that enable connections to the East Sea and Cambodia and thus promote water transport. The central inland waterway currently covers six routes with a total length of 311.5 km, while the local inland waterway covers 190 routes with a total length of 909.25 km. A major project to dredge the Tien River is currently under review to further optimize the waterways.
The Chairman of the People's Committee, Tran Ngoc Tam, emphasizes the significant importance of infrastructure development for the socio-economic development of the region and has already announced further projects. These include the Coastal Road Project, Cua Dai Bridge, Co Chien 2 Bridge and the North-South Road to Phu Thuan Industrial Park, all of which aim to promote the province's long-term economic dynamism.
