Hyundai launches ZER01NE Fund III – KRW 125 billion for future technologies!

Hyundai Motor Group today launched ZER01NE Fund III, which has a volume of 125 billion KRW (around 93 million euros). This innovative fund was created to support the development and acceleration of future technologies by investing in early-stage startups. The group particularly focuses on technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity as well as hydrogen and energy technologies. The fund is supported by ten subsidiaries, including major names such as Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation, who work together to identify and promote startups that align with the group's strategic direction. IT Boltwise reports that ZER01NE Fund III represents a 1.5x expansion compared to its predecessor, ZER01NE Fund II.

The ZER01NE Fund III builds on the successes of its predecessor funds, which collectively invested over 105 startups and generated more than 200 collaboration cases within the Hyundai Motor Group. Notable companies from ZER01NE Fund I's portfolio include Clobot, a cloud-based robot management system, and MakinaRocks, which provides AI solutions for manufacturing and process optimization. The ZER01NE Fund II received support for companies such as 60Hertz, a provider of AI software for renewable energy systems, and LD Carbon, which recycles end-of-life tires into environmentally certified materials.

Commitment to sustainability

The establishment of the ZER01NE Fund III once again shows the Hyundai Motor Group's commitment to sustainable and future-oriented technologies. The initiatives such as the fund demonstrate the company's ambitions to promote innovative approaches that pursue both economic and ecological goals. This investment continues the commitment to shaping the future of mobility and promoting sustainable solutions. This also includes the promotion of technologies that are central to environmentally friendly energy use and intelligent mobility solutions.

In conclusion, the initiative to establish ZER01NE Fund III not only reflects Hyundai Motor Group's ambitions, but also advances the trend of democratizing technological investments, creating broader opportunities for the development and implementation of innovative solutions.
