District invests 9 million euros in schools: secure the future!

The Märkische Kreis benefits from extensive investments in school education. The area received over 9 million euros from Düsseldorf, supplemented by 400,000 euros from its own budget, to improve the school infrastructure. A total of 48 measures are being implemented in vocational colleges and special schools. These projects aim to implement both educational and energy improvements and to make the outdoor areas more attractive. These comprehensive measures were carried out during ongoing school operations, which represents a particular challenge for everyone involved.

The annual maintenance costs for the buildings in the district amount to around 7 million euros. These considerable sums illustrate the high financial effort that is necessary to maintain and further develop the structural substance. Fischer, a responsible representative, is also calling for additional funds to achieve climate neutrality in schools.

Investments in school camps

There are also interesting developments in the area of school camps. The construction work on the school camp on Norderney has largely been completed. As part of this work, the attic was expanded and two additional apartments were created. The fees for the use of these new apartments have been set: adults pay between 56 and 61 euros, while children have to pay between 44 and 47 euros. The expected additional income from renting out the apartments amounts to around 96,000 euros and thus contributes to the financing of the school camp, whose cost coverage rate is currently 97 percent.

Another notable step is the replacement of the school management at the Wilhelm Busch School. Carsten Buse was introduced as the new headmaster at the end of April. The special school, which focuses on the emotional and social development of students, has big plans. Buse has already offered the new members of the school and sports committee a visit to his school.

School construction in Germany

School construction is a central topic throughout Germany and includes new buildings, renovations, modernizations and the management of schools. The school authorities are responsible for this, while the states provide guidelines and support through funding programs. This structure is particularly important to improve school infrastructure and meet the diverse needs of students. Active concepts are being pursued in many federal states.

In Baden-Württemberg, for example, municipal and private school authorities are responsible for the construction and maintenance of school buildings. A current administrative regulation for school construction funding ensures that the needs of the students are taken into account in the planning. In Bavaria, too, a special school building regulation regulates the principles and requirements for school types and building use.

For further information on school building initiatives, the education server is ideal, where various programs and guidelines are explained in detail, for example the Berlin school building offensive, which envisages significant investments over the next ten years.

The challenges in school construction are similar across the country, although support from the respective Ministry of Education is crucial in order to acquire the necessary funds and implement meaningful projects. These issues are crucial for the future, as the framework conditions must be adapted to the increasing demands of education policy.
