Today, on May 29, 2025, the city of Linz presents its financial statements for the 2024 financial year. These financial statements show that revenue is 37.5 million euros above the original budget forecasts, resulting in a total amount of around 907 million euros. Current expenses correspond to the planned budget, which Mayor Dietmar Prammer sees as a sign of economic stability and social cohesion.

Prammer emphasizes that the increase in income was achieved through changes to the care fund and childcare. Operating management shows income of 906.5 million euros and payments of around 928 million euros. Income shares represent the most important source of income at 351.2 million euros.

Sources of income and expenses

The city also records its own taxes of 251.8 million euros, with the largest item, local tax, accounting for 199.4 million euros. Income from services reaches 106 million euros, while rental and lease income amounts to 22.1 million euros.

A significant part of the income is also generated through transfer payments to the state of Upper Austria, which amount to 343.9 million euros, of which the largest share is 173.3 million euros. Particularly noteworthy are the investments in the urban infrastructure, which total 86 million euros.

Important investments and social spending

Among the largest investments are measures in road construction and transport, which cost 34.7 million euros, as well as grants to the municipal real estate company amounting to 23 million euros. At 362.6 million euros, social spending represents almost 40 percent of the entire budget.

Personnel expenses amount to 263.9 million euros, while expenses for administrative expenses amount to 294.8 million euros. It is particularly worth mentioning that the transfer payments to the state of Upper Austria place a considerable burden on the city's budget.

Environmental protection and other projects

Important investment projects that are to be implemented in the near future include the Ebelsberg bypass, various local transport projects and the renewal of traffic lights and lighting systems.
