Meta increases investments in the Metaverse - reaction after the trading session

Meta reacted clearly after the trading session due to various factors, although hindsight was not the deciding factor. In the current quarter, Meta's revenue is estimated at $36.5 billion to $39 billion. Investments for the current year are expected to be between $35 billion and $40 billion, up from the previous $30 billion to $37 billion. This increase is due to planned infrastructure investments, which primarily affect the area of artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse.

Similar to Netflix, Meta has also made adjustments to the use of user data. Not all key figures, such as daily and monthly active users, are communicated anymore. Instead, Meta is now focusing on the “Family daily active people (DAP)” key figure, the number of which increased by 7% to 3.24 billion users in the period from March 2023 to March 2024. In addition, the revenue per user is now stated as “Family average revenue per person”. In the first quarter of 2023, this value was $9.47 and increased to $11.20 per person in the first quarter of 2024.

The main reason for the continued weakness in Meta is the winners of the previous months, which have had a strong influence on Meta shares. Although the stock has gained 100% in a year, it has only seen a 50% increase so far this year. Investors who speculate on a further fall in the price of the share can do this, for example, with a leveraged paper from BNP Paribas.
