Nasdaq 100: On Semiconductor biggest loser with a loss of 5.50 percent
On April 12, 2024, the Nasdaq 100 index recorded slight losses and traded at 17,972 points, down 1.84 percent compared to the previous trading day. On Semiconductor shares were the biggest loser in this index. The bears had the upper hand in securities trading, while the bulls remained just behind.
The positive developments in the shares of Apple, Fastenal and Old Dominion Freight Line should be highlighted. Apple shares in particular showed a significant price increase of 0.64 percent, while the security was quoted at $176.08. Fastenal and Old Dominion Freight Line also posted price increases of 0.53 percent and 0.15 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, the shares of On Semiconductor, Intel and NXP Semiconductors fell negatively and were the worst performers in the Nasdaq 100. On Semiconductor lost 5.50 percent, while Intel recorded a loss of 5.11 percent and NXP Semiconductors fell by 4.56 percent.
Despite the current discount, the Nasdaq 100 shows an overall positive performance of 6.49 percent for the current year. As a stock market index of the New York Stock Exchange Nasdaq, mainly technology and growth stocks are traded, with the index comprising the 100 largest stocks on the Nasdaq. The index level is calculated exclusively on the basis of share prices without taking dividend payments into account (price index).
