National Assembly approves billion-dollar plan for social housing!

On June 2, 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam took decisive steps to improve the national budget and promote social housing. At a meeting, the body adopted Resolution No. 200/2025/QH15, which provides for a significant addition to the state budget estimates for 2025. This measure includes increasing the regular expenditure budget by over VND4,300 billion provided through non-repayable foreign aid.

In particular, the total amount of these aid funds is VND 4,327,121 billion. The funds are specifically earmarked for ministries and central and local authorities. The government has a responsibility to guarantee the accuracy of data and comply with legal requirements to ensure efficient use of funds and avoid losses and waste.

Promoting social housing

A noteworthy point is the possibility of allocating investors without a tender for projects that do not use public investment capital. This could lead to faster implementation of projects. In addition, regulations will be introduced for determining sales prices and rental prices for social housing as well as regulations for compensation, support and investments in technical infrastructure.

New deputy head of the National Assembly Office

Another important decision in this session was the appointment of Nguyen Van Hien as Deputy Head of the Office of the National Assembly, as established in Resolution No. 1639/NQ-UBTVQH15. His term of office is five years and began on May 17, 2025. This position will be of great importance, especially at a time of far-reaching reforms in the country.

The adopted measures reflect the Vietnamese government's commitment to improving the well-being of the population and promoting the country's economic development. They take place in a context that is also influenced by international developments, as can be found in further information, including in the publication of the Bundestag under this link.
