Quang Nam: Revolutionary transport projects until 2030 – A look into the future!

Quang Nam Province is planning significant measures to modernize its transport infrastructure in the period 2021 to 2030, with a vision to 2050. This initiative focuses on improving intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity along the Coastal Economic Corridors and the East-West Economic Corridor. Loud Bao Quang Nam Important transport hubs such as Chu Lai Airport, Quang Nam Port and Nam Giang International Border Crossing will be placed at the center of these developments.

In order to improve transport connections, planned improvements to national road axes are also planned. These include, among others, streets 14D, 14B, 14E, 40B and 14G as well as the north-south axes. It is planned to further expand the road network, including the development of three highways: the North-South Highway, the link between Da Nang and the Bo Y border crossing, and the Quang Nam - Quang Ngai highway. These measures are complemented by the upgrade of ten national roads with a total length of approximately 968.329 kilometers.

Priorities and innovation projects

As part of this initiative, special transport routes with high volumes of goods in the east-west corridor should also be prioritized. Connecting these transport routes with the north-south axes should help to form a comprehensive key transport network. In addition, a new channel will be dredged from Cua Lo to Tam Hiep, Tam Hoa and Ky Ha to accommodate 50,000-ton ships.

Another important aspect is the development of the port into a Class 1 port, which will be linked to a tax-free zone and an airport. The plan here is to create a logistics center for the region. There are also plans to build three cargo port clusters and upgrade five tourism ports in Hoi An, the Cham Islands and An Hoa, with capacities of 150,000 and 50,000 passengers per year.

Rail and airport development

The rail network will also be expanded: improvements to the existing routes are planned, including the north-south railway and a high-speed connection. In addition, there are plans to develop two light rail lines connecting Chu Lai, Tam Ky, Hoi An and Da Nang International Airport, as well as to Hoi An City in connection with Ngu Hanh Son.
