Revolution in the education system: Free schools from 2025!

From the 2025/2026 school year, a new teaching model will be introduced in Vietnam, which consists of two teaching units per day. This reform aims to reduce pressure on students and create a healthy learning environment. In this context, tuition fees will be abolished, which will primarily benefit preschool children and public school students. The state also covers the school fees for private schools, which are similar to the corresponding public institutions Vietnam.vn reports.

Another key aspect of this innovation is the improvement of culture and art lessons in order to promote the all-round development of students. From July 2024, it is also planned to increase the salary coefficient for teachers to 2.34, which can lead to monthly salaries of up to VND 30 million. Teachers also benefit from a 13th month salary and an annual bonus, which increases the attractiveness of the teaching profession.

Focus of the new teaching model

The second session will focus on learning methods, self-study, lifelong learning and life skills development. The National Assembly also plans to introduce preschool education for children aged 3 to 5 and exempt them from school fees. The goal is to create comprehensive guidelines and instructions for communities on how to do so by the new school year Beltz notes.

The education sector faces various challenges in implementing the new model. This includes selecting qualified teachers and providing the necessary materials. Different details in the organization of lessons must be taken into account: While secondary schools can employ several teachers per class, primary schools usually only teach one person.

Funding and support

Another key point of this reform is the need to socialize education in order to provide the necessary financial resources. The budget will also ensure that public schools do not have to charge fees to their students. Lunch support is also provided for students in border communities.

Overall, this reform marks the beginning of a new phase of development in Vietnam's education sector. Investing in education is considered key to national development and to creating a sustainable, healthy learning environment for all students.
