Terror regime Iran attacks Israel: over 300 drones and missiles in use!
The dramatic weekend in the Middle East was marked by an attack by the terrorist regime Iran on Israel, in which over 300 drones and missiles were used. Although most of the bullets were intercepted, the threat was serious. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that they have successfully defended themselves and will win together. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock warns of the destabilizing effects of the Iranian attack and is leading the region to the brink of the abyss.
The attack consisted mainly of around 170 kamikaze drones, presumably of the “Shahed 136” type. These drones can circle over their target remotely and drop their explosives on command. However, despite the potential danger, the attack caused only limited damage as the slow flight speed of the drones gave interceptors such as the fighter jets and the Iron Dome enough time to react.
Experts debate whether the limited damage was because Iran deliberately limited the attack to avoid U.S. retaliation or because they underestimated the strength of its missile defenses. The situation remains tense as Israel has to respond to the provocation but also wants to avoid escalation.
Reactions to the attack were varied. US President Joe Biden has convened a crisis team to assess the situation. German politicians such as Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Green Party leader Omid Nouripour are calling for measures to counteract further escalation. It is being discussed whether tougher sanctions need to be taken against Iran to curb its aggressive behavior.
