Thale invests in safety: new construction of the fire station started!
The city of Thale is planning extensive investments in a total of 36 projects for 2025. The draft budget stipulates that funds from previous years will largely be used to continue existing projects. Particular attention is being paid to the addition and renovation of the fire station in Westerhausen, which can now enter the implementation phase.
After the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony in December 2023, which was attended by Mayor Maik Zedschack and representatives of the city and local council, among others, the construction company officially set up the construction site last week. The firefighters of the Westerhausen local fire department have already carried out their own preparatory work, such as clearing out a garage used as storage and removing three trees to create a new exit area for emergency vehicles.
Important projects in focus
Other planned investments also include the development of a sports field in Neinstedt as well as the final work on the Bergtheater and Hexentanzplatz. In addition, various road construction projects are being planned. These measures are intended not only to improve the infrastructure, but also to improve the quality of life of citizens.
The construction work on the fire station includes the construction of a new workshop, a storage area, a vehicle hall and a social wing. This is intended to significantly improve the conditions for the Westerhausen local fire department and meet the requirements of the fire department accident fund. In addition, a fundamental renovation of the existing building is planned after the new building is completed. There are also plans to share the existing building with the community in order to create synergy effects, for example by setting up a local office.
Financing and outlook
The city of Thale is taking over the full financing of the entire construction project after applied for funding was rejected. This shows the city's commitment to investing in fire protection and the safety of Westerhausen's citizens. Those responsible are recognized for their decision, which meets both the needs of the fire department and the needs of the community.
Overall, there are exciting months ahead for the city of Thale, in which numerous projects are to be implemented in order to make the municipal infrastructure fit for the future. The coming developments will be followed with great interest.
