Ten million euros for Schierling: school renovations will start soon!
Significant investments in the education sector are imminent in the Schierling market in the Regensburg district. The planned renovation of the Placidus Heinrich elementary and middle school will involve a total cost of 9,775,000 euros. The work is scheduled to begin in mid-July 2023, just before the summer holidays Central Bavarian reported. The market town council has already approved the first work.
The Placidus Heinrich Elementary School in Schierling is an important educational institution with 11 classes and a total of 252 enrolled children. In addition, 51 students are accommodated in 3 classes in the Dr. Rudolf Hell Schoolhouse in Eggmühl. The middle school has 4 classes with 74 students. In total, the school looked after 326 children and young people in the 2019/20 school year.
School structures and offerings
The Placidus Heinrich Schools have a dedicated team of 53 teachers, social workers, educators and other educational specialists. An important part of the educational community is the open all-day school, which is run by the Evangelical Youth Social Work Regensburg. Under the direction of Ms. Kurz-Hoffmann, around 110 primary school students and around 25 middle school students attend this facility. Lunch, homework support and various leisure activities are offered here.
In view of the increasing number of registrations, the school is planning to build a cafeteria and additional group rooms. In addition, the after-school care services in Eggmühl are organized under the sponsorship of the market town of Schierling and are headed by Ms. Sandra Jurju.
Support and commitment
A support association, led by Mr. Jürgen Eifler, has over 450 members and offers financial support for various support courses. Youth social work at schools is represented by Ms. Carola Hanusch and offers comprehensive support for students and parents in educational and teaching matters.
The Placidus Heinrich schools have an international character, with students from over 20 countries of origin. They also carry the school seal “School without Racism – School with Courage” and place great value on basic skills such as reading, arithmetic and writing as well as on conveying values such as the ability to work in a team, reliability and consideration. The core tasks of schools are to both challenge and support students in order to optimally prepare them for the future.
The upcoming renovations will not only modernize the learning environment, but also create the basis for even better education. The commitment of the school management, teachers and the entire environment shows how important a good educational structure is for the development of the young generation.
