Study: Artificial intelligence supports HR managers in hiring in small businesses.
In a recent study, the recruiting platform The Stepstone Group found that 80% of small businesses in Germany have difficulty finding suitable staff. More than half of companies also struggle with time pressure when filling positions. For this reason, many companies are pinning their hopes on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in recruiting. According to the study, two thirds of HR managers in Germany expect that the use of AI will simplify and accelerate their hiring processes. Specifically, 62% of HR managers hope that AI will help them automatically match suitable candidates with the advertised positions.
Dr. Tobias Zimmermann, labor market expert at The Stepstone Group, emphasizes that AI is an opportunity, especially for small companies, to professionalize their personnel recruitment. These companies often do not have their own human resources department and the bosses have to take care of the personnel search themselves. AI can answer important questions and offer guidance, for example when formulating job advertisements or evaluating applicants.
To support the hiring process, Stepstone Recruit, an AI-based recruiting tool, offers various features. A new function called Co-Pilot suggests suitable interview questions based on an advertised job advertisement and helps companies structure and evaluate applicants' answers.
The results of the study are representative of the working population. The survey was carried out as part of the “Puls Check Labor Market 2023” study, in which a total of 10,000 people were surveyed. The study shows that AI has great potential to facilitate the recruiting process for companies, especially small businesses, and thus help solve the personnel shortage.
