Manfred Knof: New boss in Valour’s crypto circus!

Manfred Knof will take over as chairman of Valour, an innovative provider of cryptocurrency ETPs, on June 1, 2025. This appointment marks Knof's first step into a new role after his early departure from Commerzbank in September 2024. He served there from January 2021 to September 2024 and successfully restructured the institute.

Knof, who has over 20 years of experience at Allianz and Deutsche Bank, will also join Valor as a strategic advisor to Canadian parent company Defi Technologies. This has been listed on the Nasdaq since May and has an impressive valuation of 1.1 billion US dollars. Valor itself offers over 65 exchange-traded products (ETPs) for digital assets, including Bitcoin. A large part of the challenge for Knof will be to increase assets under management through institutional partnerships.

Strategic role and expansion goals

In his new position, Knof will deepen relationships with institutional investors and expand Defi Technologies' investor base. His goal is to drive the company's growth in the digital assets space and make the most of the opportunities the market offers. This is particularly relevant at a time when cryptocurrencies are increasingly coming into the focus of institutional investors.

After Knof surprisingly terminated his contract with Commerzbank, which originally ran until the end of 2025, Bettina Orlopp took over his position as CEO of the institute. Knof will now leverage his extensive leadership experience in the European banking sector to position Valor in the global market and gain the trust of institutional investors.

In the dynamic and often volatile world of cryptocurrencies, it will be crucial for Knof to steer a clear course and secure Valor a significant place in the industry. The challenges are many, but his successes to date suggest he is well equipped to handle the task. Knof is 59 years old and brings a wealth of experience to a forward-looking industry that is rapidly evolving.

As the new chairman of Valor and strategic advisor to Defi Technologies, Manfred Knof will play a key role in actively shaping the future scope for cryptocurrencies.
