Super-rich: This is how they invest their wealth
Multiple millionaires, defined as people with assets of over $100 million, are among the absolute top earners in the world. With approximately 28,420 of these people worldwide, most live in cities such as New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, London and Beijing. However, these extremely wealthy people do not invest in cryptocurrencies or other illiquid assets, but prefer solid investments to preserve their wealth in the long term.
The super-rich mainly rely on very stable properties, which are mostly new, and invest around a third of their assets in this area. Experts like Salvatore Buscemi emphasize that these investors are not interested in quick money and value long-term value preservation. In addition, many of them follow a strategy that focuses on fixed income and alternative investments to ensure regular income.
In addition to real estate, many super-rich people hire family offices that serve as specialized asset managers and help increase or maintain an owner family's wealth. The number of such family offices worldwide has increased to around 4,500 in 2024. Furthermore, wealthy Americans are showing an interest in alternative investments such as ownership in professional sports teams, although this is often viewed as a prestige item rather than just a financial investment.
