Vietnam legalizes crypto: revolution in Web3 for the entire region!
Vietnam has taken a significant step towards the future of digital assets with the Digital Technology Industry Act. This new law, which will come into force on January 1, 2026, establishes the legal basis for cryptocurrencies and digital assets and does not define them as traditional financial instruments. Loud CVJ International standards for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) will also be established to ensure regulatory clarity for crypto activities in the country.
The law sets clear licensing conditions for cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets and token issuers and introduces a sandbox mechanism for controlled experiments in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. This is part of Vietnam's larger strategy to be recognized as a Web3 and blockchain hub in Southeast Asia by 2030.
Strategic goals and investments
In addition, Vietnam plans tax breaks, subsidies and investments in key technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors and digital infrastructure. The goal is to create 20 domestic blockchain brands and three test centers to promote the application of blockchain technologies in areas such as finance, logistics and education.

A single aspect of the law could be the development of a government-backed digital currency (CBDC), which would be seamlessly integrated into the new regulatory framework. The first pilot projects are already planned in cooperation with the State Bank of Vietnam.
