DAZN is currently being criticized for its price increases. A class action lawsuit filed by the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations (vzbv) raises the question of whether the drastic price adjustments in 2022 were legally permissible. Affected existing customers from 2021 and 2022 could possibly receive back money that they paid too much if the lawsuit is successful.

The price increases at DAZN in 2022 were significant, with the monthly subscription increasing from 14.99 euros to 29.99 euros and the annual one-off payment from 149.99 euros to 274.99 euros. The price for the monthly subscription for BVB games is currently up to 44.99 euros. BVB fans also have to pay for Sky to watch all games live. In addition, AppleTV+ could incur additional subscription costs, especially for the 2025 Club World Cup in which Borussia Dortmund is taking part, as well as possibly for future broadcast rights for the Bundesliga.
