Deutschlandticket: Price will soon rise to over 49 euros
Since the introduction of the Deutschlandticket a year ago, politicians from Saxony-Anhalt have expected the price to rise above 49 euros per month. In particular, Infrastructure Minister Lydia Hüskens from the FDP emphasizes that the price development of tickets will definitely not stagnate. She advocates linking the price to general price increases in the future instead of maintaining politically set prices.
The Deutschlandticket allows consumers to use local and regional transport nationwide and can be canceled on a monthly basis. Despite current financial support from both the states and the federal government totaling 1.5 billion euros, Magdeburg Bundestag member Martin Kröber from the SPD fears a future price increase. He emphasizes the urgency of adjusting the funds, otherwise an increase in ticket prices would be unavoidable.
In addition, there are concerns about the long-term financing of the Deutschlandticket, as the federal government's financing commitments currently only apply up to and including 2025. There is only a price guarantee for ticket users for the current year. Kröber complains that many questions regarding the financing and future of the ticket are still unanswered, while the costs are constantly rising.
In order to increase the attractiveness of local transport, Kröber calls for an improvement in services in rural areas. He emphasizes that a clearly structured and frequent transport offer is crucial in order to motivate more people to use buses and trains. An example from Prignitz shows that the acceptance and use of local public transport could be increased through increased frequency and better communication.
