Dynamic electricity tariffs: How consumers can benefit from cheap electricity
According to a report by www.hna.de, more and more consumers are enjoying dynamic electricity tariffs, which must be offered by all electricity suppliers by 2025. However, according to the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations, too few customers are still taking advantage of this option. A provider called “Rabot Charge” published its electricity market report in a press release, which shows that dynamic electricity prices offer savings potential.
The average electricity price in September was 10.07 cents per kilowatt hour just for the procurement price, to which statutory surcharges must be added. Including VAT, the price was 27.5 ct/kWh. The average electricity price that Germans pay was 39.6 cents/kWh for existing customers and 30.4 cents/kWh for new customers.
The consumer advice center recommends comparing electricity prices and paying attention to the stock market. Customers with dynamic tariffs could shift their electricity consumption to low price phases on the electricity exchange in order to save costs. In some cases the electricity price is even below zero or at least below 10 cents/kWh.
The introduction of dynamic electricity tariffs could therefore help consumers to reduce their electricity costs by adapting their consumption to price fluctuations. This has the potential to make demand more flexible and utilize the power grid more evenly. The impact on the electricity market could therefore be greater market transparency and greater customer orientation on the part of providers. Consumers could benefit from lower prices during off-peak times and contribute to more efficient use of energy overall.
