Energy advice in Thuringia: Free help to reduce electricity and heating costs is still available

According to a report by www.merkur.de, Thuringian consumers can also receive free energy advice in 2024. This service, which has existed since 2019, continues to be funded by the federal and state governments. The advice is provided by the consumer advice center and covers topics such as energy- and cost-saving living as well as options for energy-efficient renovations or conversions. The goal is to supply more and more residential buildings with energy that is as climate-neutral as possible.

The energy advisors from the consumer advice centers offer their services in 27 advice centers throughout Thuringia and carried out a total of around 2,600 consultations in 2023. The state supports energy advice with around 40,000 euros annually in order to cover those seeking advice's own contribution, while the Federal Ministry of Economics finances the advice with around 200,000 euros.

Thanks to energy optimizations that have already been made, more than 50,000 tons less carbon dioxide will be emitted in 2023 alone. According to the Thuringian Climate Law, which has been in force for five years, the building stock in the Free State should be supplied with energy in an almost climate-neutral manner by 2050, as around a third of the total energy consumption comes from residential buildings.

This free energy advice can have a positive impact on the market and consumers. By promoting energy-efficient renovations and climate-neutral energy supply, the demand for corresponding products and services is expected to increase. At the same time, this could lead to a positive image of the consumer advice centers, which in turn could generate more trust and interest from consumers.
