Financial expert: Early booking of accommodation for the EM 2024 is advisable - avoiding financial risks

According to a report by www.mz.de Consumer advice centers advise football fans to book their accommodation early to attend the 2024 European Championship games in Germany. The Brandenburg consumer advice center recommends that fans also consider accommodation outside the venue, as all ten stadiums can be easily reached by public transport.

The first sales phase for EM tickets will end soon, and just over a million tickets will be on offer, without a specific pairing having been determined yet. At the moment, fans would still buy the “game in a bag”, but the European Championship organizers are expecting more than ten million inquiries. A significant increase in hotel costs can already be observed almost eight months before the tournament, especially in the cities where the top games such as the opening game in Munich and the final in Berlin are taking place.

This price increase is no surprise, as major events such as the 2024 European Championships influence hotel and restaurant prices. It can be assumed that prices will continue to rise, at least in individual venues, especially when it is known which teams are playing when and where. The size and financial strength of the respective following will also have an impact here.

It is therefore advisable to book accommodation early in order to benefit from cheaper prices. Hoteliers' price calculations depend on various factors such as location, supply and demand, competitor situation and costs. The general manager of the German Hotel Association recommends booking directly with the desired hotels in order to benefit from fair prices.

Rising hotel costs could impact the accommodation market, as alternatives such as Airbnb or vacation rentals may become more attractive to many fans. It could also impact spending by fans, who may have less money available for other activities or souvenirs. It is therefore important to start booking accommodation early to get the best possible prices.
