According to a report by www.ruhr24.de, a huge hole has been identified in the federal government's budget planning and the Federal Constitutional Court has canceled 60 billion euros. A budget freeze was then imposed to prevent new liabilities from being incurred. But what does that mean for the citizens of North Rhine-Westphalia? The consumer advice center gives a clear answer.

Despite the budget freeze, commitments to subsidies for renewable energies such as solar thermal energy, photovoltaics, environmental heat or heat pumps remain valid. Consumers can therefore continue to rely on the subsidies and should also apply for them, as the consumer advice center assumes that the subsidies will continue to be paid out despite the budget freeze.

An exception could be the ambitious funding for 2024, where the maximum funding rates may be lowered. The environmental organization Greenpeace suggests removing the electricity price brake from the climate and transformation fund, which should actually be used to finance major projects such as rail infrastructure and subsidies for the construction of battery cell factories. These projects may now be on the brink.
