Borken Climate District and North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center: Free online seminars on heavy rain protection

The Borken Climate District and the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center invite house and property owners to free online seminars that deal with protection against heavy rain. With the increasing frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall, it is critical for property owners to take appropriate action to prevent potential damage. Sara Luz from the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center will provide information about possible precautions, legal aspects and insurance questions in a 90-minute seminar on May 7th.

Another online seminar on May 15th will be held by expert Andrea Wegner, who will provide information about green roofs and their contribution to retaining rainwater during heavy rain. By storing rainwater, green roofs can help mitigate the effects of heavy rain. Those interested can register for the seminars directly on the consumer advice center's website, which take place via the edudip platform.

As part of the online offerings in 2024, the Borken Climate District and the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center are committed to providing information on energy saving, funding and adaptation to climate change. In addition to regular seminars on various topics such as photovoltaics, heating renewal and heat protection, the seminar on heavy rain protection will be offered again at the end of May and June. The consumer advice center's energy advice is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, while the KluGe project is supported by the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of North Rhine-Westphalia.

For further information and to register for the online seminars, those interested can visit the NRW consumer advice center website. It remains to be hoped that the effects of heavy rain on buildings and properties can be minimized through education and preventative measures.
