Phishing warning: Fraudulent Postbank emails in circulation

The consumer advice center is currently warning Postbank customers about fraudulent phishing emails that are sent in the name of the bank. These emails in the Postbank design often contain a deceptively real logo and ask the recipient to check urgent messages in the online inbox. Despite the supposed mailbox and a “My Login” button, it is recommended to log in to Postbank directly via your browser to verify the authenticity of the email.

It is strongly advised not to follow the instructions in such phishing emails as the links they contain are intended to steal sensitive data or account access. The consumer advice center provides tips on how to recognize such fake emails, including grammatical and spelling errors, use of foreign languages, lack of personal salutation, and requests for data or file input or clicking on suspicious links.

Despite the signs of fake emails, some phishing messages can be so cleverly crafted that they are difficult to detect. To be on the safe side, the consumer advice center recommends checking the mail header to verify the sender's IP address. If in doubt, it is also advisable to call the provider concerned to confirm the authenticity of the message received.
