Phishing warning: Comdirect customers targeted by fraudsters

A current warning concerns Comdirect customers who receive phishing emails. The fake messages appear deceptively real and contain the Comdirect company logo. The consumer advice center warns that criminals want to get hold of sensitive bank data by putting customers under pressure. The scam emails claim that contact failed and ask recipients to update their details via a link.

The perpetrators threaten additional costs for investigations at the residents' registration office if the customers do not act immediately. Also, they claim that these are important business matters and the validation link is only valid for 24 hours. When customers follow the link, they are asked to provide their home address as well as bank details.

Although the phishing emails seem inconspicuous and address customers using their correct names, there are signs of fraud. The consumer advice center emphasizes that banks never request confidential data by post, telephone or email. The Bavarian State Police recommends being careful and gives tips on how to protect yourself from online fraud.
