According to a report by www.noz.de, the consumer advice center warns against unwanted door-to-door sales, in which people are persuaded to often conclude fraudulent contracts at their own doorstep. Fraudsters are taking advantage of the opportunity to pose as representatives of various companies, particularly as the additional cost privilege has been abolished.

Doorstep sales are contracts that are concluded outside of a company's business premises, for example at the front door, in the train station, or in the pedestrian zone. The consumer advice center particularly warns that language deficiencies are being deliberately exploited by customers, especially in refugee accommodation.

To protect yourself from dubious offers, the police advise taking precautionary measures. Particularly in connection with the new regulations on cable television, the consumer advice center warns against groups of people pushing their buttons at the front door.

If a contract is still signed at the door, a cancellation is possible within 14 days without having to provide further reasons. There is also a right of withdrawal for purchased goods, which applies within 14 days of delivery. In addition, the consumer advice center points out that the contract can be contested even after the cancellation period if there is deception or error.

Unwanted door-to-door sales can have significant financial and legal consequences for consumers. It is therefore important to critically examine the contracts and services offered and, if in doubt, to refrain from concluding them.
