According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, energy, telephone and mobile phone contracts as well as participation contracts in competitions and lotteries are increasingly being concluded over the phone without those affected being aware of it. In such cases, consumers should not ignore written requests, but should take action in writing.

The consumer advice center also warns of spam calls and email spam, which are increasing and, in the worst case, can be phishing attempts. It is recommended that you do not simply delete spam emails and that you never open email attachments.
