According to Lundquist Neubauer, an expert in electricity and gas at the comparison portal Verivox, the average electricity costs in Saxony-Anhalt have fallen by a good 20 percent year-on-year, while gas prices have fallen by around 33 percent. This results in significant savings for consumers. The energy price brake is expiring faster than planned, which is also contributing to falling prices. The Saxony-Anhalt consumer advice center therefore advises changing providers, as many providers offer prices below the price cap.

However, according to Neubauer, local primary care prices remain high, meaning consumers can make significant savings by switching providers. An analysis of the offers and a possible change of provider could bring customers significant cost savings, especially for customers with older, existing customer contracts. It is important to note that in addition to the local basic supply, there are other products and options available from municipal utilities and other electricity providers that should also be considered.

In addition, some municipal utilities in Saxony-Anhalt have announced that they will reduce their electricity and gas prices at the beginning of the new year. The Magdeburg municipal works, for example, are reducing electricity prices by up to 28 percent in actual consumption and also granting a loyalty bonus for affected existing customers. Other municipal utilities in Stendal, Aschersleben, Blankenburg and Halberstadt have also announced price reductions. Only the Halle public utility company is not planning any price changes at the turn of the year.
