Heavy rain protection: Free online seminars in May
The Borken Climate District and the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center have invited people to free online seminars that will take place on May 7th and 15th. In view of the increasing heavy rainfall and its impact on buildings and properties, the focus is on questions about how sensible measures can be taken to avoid damage and allow water to drain away effectively. On May 7th, Sara Luz, speaker for the “KluGe” project, will explain what precautions property owners should take, as well as the legal and insurance aspects related to heavy rain. The seminar starts at 5 p.m. and lasts around 90 minutes.
Furthermore, on May 15th, expert Andrea Wegner will explain in a thirty-minute online seminar from 12 p.m. how green roofs are constructed and which variants of a green roof can retain a particularly large amount of water during heavy rain in order to actively contribute to mitigating the consequences of heavy rain. Those interested have the opportunity to register via the edudip platform; the link to participate will be sent after registration.
With regard to further offers in 2024, the Borken Climate District and the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center point to a variety of online lectures on the topics of energy saving, funding and climate change adaptation. Online seminars take place every month on various topics, including photovoltaics, heating replacement, heat protection and heavy rain prevention. The seminar on heavy rain protection will be offered again at the end of May and June. Registration is possible via the consumer advice center website.
The consumer advice center's energy advice is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. The KluGe project also receives support from the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport of North Rhine-Westphalia. Anyone interested can register to take part in the online seminars via the consumer advice center website.
