Attention Stromio customers: model lawsuit from the Hesse Consumer Center
In the midst of the energy crisis, some electricity customers suddenly found themselves without an electricity provider in the winter of 2021/2022. Some providers, including the energy supplier Stromio, terminated contracts due to the massive increase in electricity prices. The Hesse consumer advice center considers Stromio's actions to be unlawful and is filing a model declaratory action against the company. Former Stromio customers who join the lawsuit could hope for damages if successful.
The injured parties who would like to use this offer must register free of charge in the lawsuit register at the Federal Office of Justice. According to the Hesse consumer advice center, the deadline for this ends on May 27, 2024, before the oral hearing begins. Those affected who register will be asked by consumer advocates to document the damage caused. The amount of damage is roughly determined by the difference between the price that those affected pay for the replacement or basic supply or with another electricity provider and the price agreed with Stromio for the contract term, explains Kerstin Wolf, head of the legal enforcement specialist group at the Hesse Consumer Center.
