Consumer advice center is suing the Düsseldorf martial arts school
The Hesse consumer advice center has taken legal action against an operator who runs a martial arts school in Düsseldorf and states its headquarters in the “Kingdom of Germany” in its legal notice. As part of courses and coaching sessions, participants are temporarily assigned membership of the “Kingdom of Germany (KRD)”, which the consumer advice center considers misleading and problematic. The martial arts school advertises a wide range of courses, ranging from learning Ving Tsun Kung Fu to Japanese Zen meditation.
Although the school is actually located in Düsseldorf city center, its legal notice states that its headquarters are in the “Kingdom of Germany”, more precisely in the Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The consumer advice center argues that this approach could deceive customers and compromise consumer protection. For this reason, she filed a lawsuit against the operator before the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.
Through its legal action, the consumer advice center is demanding transparency and clarity in advertising and the information in companies' legal notices. It wants to ensure that consumers are not misled by misleading information and that their right to accurate, trustworthy information is guaranteed. The legal dispute between the Hesse consumer advice center and the operator of the martial arts school is being fought in court in order to bring about clarification in this case.
