Thuringia Consumer Center: Hundreds of complaints about problems with contract terminations

The consumer advice center, together with other consumer advice centers, examined whether companies are complying with the new regulations for terminating subscription contracts. A total of 828 companies were checked and violations were found in one in seven companies. 85 companies were warned, 50 of which have now responded. Another 31 companies have been found to have violated the law, but legal review or legal action has not yet been completed.

According to Dirk Weinsheimer, the legal expert at the Thuringia Consumer Center, consumers can always terminate their contracts with one month's notice after the minimum term has expired, regardless of any different general terms and conditions (GTC), which are invalid.

These results may have significant implications for the market and consumers. Companies that do not comply with the new regulations face legal consequences such as warnings or legal action. This can lead to a loss of image and customers. For consumers, this means that they will benefit from the new regulations and will be able to terminate their contracts more easily after the minimum term has expired.
