According to a report by www.n-tv.de, a large number of consumers in Thuringia have again reported problems with contract terminations this year. Since the beginning of the year, the consumer advice center has received around 350 complaints. This is about average for the past few years. The consumer advice center, together with other consumer advice centers, examined whether companies are adhering to the new regulations on cancellations of subscription contracts. Since March 1, 2022, contracts concluded after this date can actually be terminated with one month's notice after the minimum term has expired. Of the 828 companies examined, violations were found in one in seven companies. A total of 85 companies were warned, 50 of which have already given in. Violations were found at 31 other companies, but the legal review has not yet been completed or legal action is being considered.

Consumers can always terminate their contracts with one month's notice after the minimum term has expired, even if they have agreed to terms and conditions that say otherwise.

The volume of complaints and the discovery of non-compliance by a significant proportion of the companies examined suggests that consumers continue to have difficulties terminating their contracts under the new termination rules. This could lead to greater consumer dissatisfaction, which could have a long-term negative impact on the image and success of the affected companies. It could also lead to increased pressure on companies to comply with legal requirements in order to avoid legal conflicts and negative publicity.
