According to a report from www.ksta.de, the Hamburg consumer advice center has named Tuc Bake Rolls the “Deceptive Pack of the Year 2023”. The reason for this is that after a brand change, Mondelez company's bread chips contain less content at a higher retail price. The Tuc Bake Rolls were previously sold under the 7days brand, contained 250 grams and cost 1.39 euros. After switching to the Tuc brand, the content was reduced to 150 grams, but the selling price rose to 1.89 euros. In addition to this change, many retailers have even increased the price to 1.99 euros. This means that consumers now have at least 127 percent more...

Consumer advice center chooses Tuc Bake Rolls as the deceptive package of the year 2023

According to a report by www.ksta.de, the Hamburg consumer advice center has named the Tuc Bake Rolls “Deceptive Pack of the Year 2023”.

This means consumers are now paying at least 127 percent more for the bread chips, while the product itself hasn't changed much. This type of change is not only observed in Tuc Bake Rolls, but also affects a total of 104 products that were identified as deceptive packages in 2023.

The consumer advice center is therefore calling on politicians to take action to protect consumers from such trickery. It is also proposed to reduce the amount of air allowed in the packaging and to label the old and new filling quantities on the packaging in order to create transparency for consumers. These measures could not only help protect consumers, but also conserve resources.
