The new electric flagship from DS Automobiles, the DS N°8, presents itself as an innovative sedan that offers a variety of interesting features and an impressive range. With a length of 4.82 meters and a height of 1.58 meters, the electric sedan positions itself in the mid-range segment - and yet offers enough space to also transport chauffeurs. Prices start at 57,700 euros, which puts them in interesting competition with models like the Tesla Model Y and the BMW i4. According to the manufacturer, the maximum range is up to 750 kilometers, although under realistic conditions, such as on the highway, a range of around 500 kilometers can be achieved.

The DS N°8 is available with different battery capacities. The standard configuration has a 74 kWh battery, while the long range version comes with a 102 kWh battery. Available engines range from 230 hp for the base version to an impressive 375 hp for the all-wheel drive version. The latter accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, while the front-wheel drive model needs 7.7 seconds for the same distance.

Design and equipment

The design of the DS N°8 is described as futuristic and elegant. Striking features include electrically extending door handles and an illuminated radiator grille. The sedan offers five color options, including the option of a contrasting black roof. The N°8 is based on the “STLA Medium Platform”, which is known for its flexibility and efficiency. It is offered with a charging capacity of up to 160 kW, meaning it can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in just 27 minutes. In comparison, the Audi Q6 takes 21 minutes to achieve the same charging performance. The top speed is 190 km/h, and the sedan achieves powerful yet comfortable driving dynamics thanks to its advanced drive system. The optional adaptive dampers further increase driving comfort and ensure a pleasant driving experience.

Overall, the DS N°8 makes an impressive first impression and could well carve out a significant place in the electric vehicle market.
