The top 5 insurers for dual study places: Attention trainees!
The search for qualified young talent remains a challenge for the German insurance industry. A current training survey shows that in 2023 two thirds of insurers were unable to fill all training positions for trainees and dual students. However, the proportion of unfilled positions is less than 10 percent, which illustrates the competitive situation in the industry. These results are proven by the insurance industry training survey, which was carried out by the insurance industry employers' association (AGV) in collaboration with the insurance industry education association (BWV).
The dual course of study, which combines training in the company with studies at a vocational academy, is enjoying increasing popularity. In order to assess the attractiveness of training positions, the Cologne rating agency Servicevalue, together with the F.A.Z. Institute conducted the study “Dual Studying: Germany’s Top Trainers 2025”. Companies from over 100 industries were analyzed to find out which insurers are particularly popular with trainees.
Methodology of the study
The analysis of the study mentioned was carried out in two stages. First, a crawling process was used that evaluated several hundred million publicly accessible Internet sources. AI-supported analyzes were then used to examine the collected data for its tonality. In addition, the companies were asked to self-assess their dual study programs using structured online questionnaires.
These questionnaires covered four dimensions: structural company data, specific data on dual study, remuneration models and additional benefits as well as training success and take-on rates. The evaluation of the companies was based on the results of both phases, with the topic of “dual study” accounting for 50 percent and the other areas together also accounting for 50 percent of the evaluation. The points were determined on a scale from 0 to 100, with the leading company in an industry receiving 100 points. Companies that achieved above-average values can adorn themselves with the “Dual Study: Germany’s Top Trainers 2025” seal.
