Driving into danger: 17-year-old flees from police in Weiden!
A 17-year-old motorcyclist from Weiden caused a spectacular police operation on Schweigerstrasse on July 5, 2025. The teenager fled from a planned traffic stop and only turned himself in to the police on Weigelstrasse after midnight. The pursuit quickly developed into a manhunt after the young driver ignored several attempts by the officers to stop him and escaped via bike paths.
The motorcyclist was only traveling with an insurance license plate, although an official license plate would have been required. During the subsequent inspection, it turned out that the vehicle was neither properly registered nor insured. In addition, the 17-year-old did not have a valid driving license because his admission to the practical driving test, which was to take place in a few days, had already been revoked due to suspicion of driving without a license.
Legal consequences
The police have now launched an investigation against the teenager. He faces charges for several offenses. These include driving without a license, violating the compulsory insurance law, forging documents and conducting a prohibited motor vehicle race. Due to suspicions of technical manipulation of the motorcycle, the vehicle was seized in order to carry out a thorough assessment.
What is particularly worrying is that the motorcyclist had already been involved in a similar incident two weeks earlier and had also evaded a police patrol. The decision about a possible re-admission to the practical driving test will only be made after the current investigation has been completed.
The risky driving style of the young person, who was seen several times in the city during his escape, and the alleged manipulation of the motorcycle raise questions about the sense of responsibility of young drivers. It remains to be seen how the legal consequences for the 17-year-old will develop.
