On May 31, 2025, nail salon boss Katrin Hille received an alarming call from the police while on vacation in Asia. A car drove into her shop in Leipzig. Fortunately, there were no injuries as there were no customers or employees in the store at the time. But the impact of the accident is significant and has resulted in extensive damage to the facility.

The store was able to reopen after the painting work was completed and most of the inventory was replaced. Nevertheless, the store still looks like a construction site. A temporary privacy screen is attached to the window pane, as the wood painting on the new window pane has not yet been carried out. An advertising film cannot yet be attached due to the incomplete work.

Claims settlement and insurance issues

Katrin Hille has applied for a rent reduction and is in regular contact with the property management. The landlord's building insurance covered the damage to the building and the construction work, but it turns out that their shop fittings and business loss insurance does not apply in this case. The vehicle collision is not insured, so the costs must be borne by the owner's motor vehicle liability insurance.

Hille's reserves have now been used up because she had to buy new furniture at her own expense. She is now waiting for compensation and the police have opened an investigation because two vehicles were involved in the accident. This complicates the question of guilt. A call for witnesses was launched to obtain additional information for clarification.
