Funinio spectacle in Braunschweig: 34 teams celebrate football fun!
On June 28, 2025, the big Funinio spectacle took place on the sports grounds of the Heidberg sports club HSC Leu 06 in Braunschweig. An impressive number of 34 teams from Braunschweig and the surrounding cities of Peine, Hanover, Wolfenbüttel and Wolfsburg took part. The event focused on a special game concept: Funinio, which plays football on four small goals and focuses on fun. At the opening, a rousing performance by the cheerleader Mini Sparks from Wolfenbüttel created a good atmosphere.
During the event, all children received a medal donated by the event's main sponsor, Mecklenburgische Versicherung, led by Dennis Momberg. The medal presentation took place during an award ceremony, which was opened by deputy district mayor Kurt Schrader. To celebrate the day, the mascots Leo from Eintracht Braunschweig and Wölfi from VfL Wolfsburg were also present, who posed for a team photo with the children.
Activities and meals
In addition to the exciting football offer, two large bouncy castles, provided by the Braunschweigische Landessparkasse and the Johanniter-Unfallhilfe, provided additional fun. The Johanniter also had two helpers on site to ensure the safety of the children. A buffet from the Ziebart Bakery run by parents as well as coffee and bratwurst from the club's own bratwurst stand provided for physical well-being.
A raffle with attractive prizes rounded off the event. In addition, the spectators were able to relax on comfortable seating and loungers from the Braunschweigische Landessparkasse. The event was a complete success and promoted community and the joy of football.
Funinio and its importance for the G youth
Transformative events like the one in Braunschweig are part of a broader trend visible in the G-Youth community. The G youth from Blau-Weiss Dahlewitz regularly took part in Funinio tournaments, such as the event in Teltow on April 2nd, 2023. Here, the 2016 class competed with two teams and was able to gain a lot of experience despite light drizzle. All players hit the goal at least once, and the two teams also played against each other, which made the coaches proud.
The next Funinio event is already planned for April and promises to once again offer young footballers a platform to develop team spirit and sporting skills.
