Infrastructure investments for ecological transformation: Financial expert calls for reduction in bureaucracy
Infrastructure investments are a good way to support the ecological transformation of the economy. This was emphasized by the ALH Group, which has increased its equity investments by 648 million euros to 1.18 billion euros in the last two years. These investments include, for example, solar parks in southwest Germany. At the same time, the ALH Group's debt capital commitment increased by 377 million euros to 1.19 billion euros in the same period. The group has therefore invested significantly in renewable energies.
However, according to CEO Rohm of ALH Group, the challenge is that onshore wind farms often involve smaller project companies that do not provide the necessary data to insurers to classify the investment as sustainable. This leads to increased bureaucratic effort and costs for insurers, who have to collect the data themselves.
To improve this process, Rohm suggests identifying investments in renewable energies as sustainable if an environmental impact assessment has already taken place in the approval process. Likewise, investments in ESG bonds issued according to recognized standards should be considered sustainable investments without further review.
Despite these challenges and the difficult market environment, the ALH Group was able to record total sales of 5.2 billion euros last year, which corresponds to an increase of 3.1 percent. The premium income of Alte Leipziger Lebensversicherung, the group's largest company, rose by 2.2 percent to 2.97 billion euros.
