Medical consultation hours for homeless people in Paderborn: Social commitment is increasing and offers urgently needed medical help

According to a report by www.nw.de, a medical consultation is offered in Paderborn specifically for homeless people. Initiator Liborius Zacharias launched the “Sento” project, which offers low-threshold medical care to the homeless. In cooperation with the KIM – Social Work Association and B2 Streetwork, 14 doctors and four medical staff volunteer to address the health needs of homeless people. In the future, the consultation hours will also be offered at the SKM on Kapellenstrasse in order to reach even more people.

The Sento medical clinic is a significant and much-needed initiative to help homeless people access medical care. Homeless people are often exposed to wet, cold, inadequate nutrition and poor personal hygiene, leading to frequent infections, abscesses and other health problems. Medical care in the consultation hours helps to treat these acute health problems and enables homeless people to have their first contact with the health system.

The expansion of the consultation hours to the SKM on Kapellenstrasse is expected to help reach even more homeless people and provide urgently needed medical care. Early medical care can prevent more serious health problems and, in the long term, increase the homeless population's trust in the health system. This expanded offer creates a useful addition to ensure appropriate medical help for homeless people in Paderborn.
