New faces on the board of directors of Viva Lucerne: Blatter will be in charge in the future!
Viva Luzern AG, a leading provider of long-term care in Central Switzerland, will welcome two new board members, Hannes Blatter and Jonas Meier, from June 13, 2025. These personnel changes mark an important step in the further development of the organization, which focuses on needs-based care and a high level of freedom of choice for older people and people in need of care. The AG is owned by the city of Lucerne and employs around 1,160 people in five elderly care centers in which around 820 residents live.
Hannes Blatter, who will initially join the Board of Directors, will take over the position of President after a transition period of one year. He succeeds Rolf Krummenacher, who recognizes the expertise and commitment of Alice Rufer Hohl and Guido Schüpfer. Both are leaving the board after ten years and, during this time, have made a significant contribution to transforming the organization from a service department of the city of Lucerne to a non-profit stock corporation. The resignations are therefore a significant change of scenery on the board.
Profiles of the new board members
Hannes Blatter brings extensive experience from politics, administration and the private sector. He is managing director of the Lucerne Forum for Social Insurance and Social Security and a lecturer at the Lucerne School of Economics. He is also the owner of a consulting company. Blatter previously worked, among other things, as Secretary General at CSS Insurance. He complements his extensive training in political science with an executive program in senior leadership in social administrations. At 54, he lives in Sursee and is valued for his expertise and connections in the social sector.
Jonas Meier, 41 years old and living in Eschenbach, is following in Alice Rufer Hohl's footsteps. Meier is head of hotel and infrastructure and a member of the management team at the Hirslanden Klinik St. Anna. He has extensive experience in the hotel, catering and facility management industries. With his training as a qualified hotelier and restaurateur as well as a master's degree in leadership and management, he also brings valuable specialist knowledge to the board of directors.
Outlook and future
The coming months will be crucial for the realignment of Viva Luzern AG. The new administrative boards face the challenge of continuing the successful work of their predecessors and creating new perspectives for the care facilities in the region. The organization's goal is to continue to provide high-quality, personalized care that meets the needs of its residents.
