New South Tyrol Pass: Cheap and easy travel from June 1st!

From June 1, 2025, a new subscription for local public transport in South Tyrol will be introduced. State Councilor Daniel Alfreider presented the revised usage concept, which is aimed at simplicity and cost-effective mobility. The new SüdtirolPass is presented in a fresh design and offers a tariff that is specifically tailored to the needs of passengers. This initiative is particularly aimed at commuters, families and young people.

One of the central innovations is the south tirolmobil Fix365 subscription, which will be available to regular users for a fixed price of 250 euros per year. This decision is intended to make public transport more attractive for many and offers a direct financial advantage over using your own vehicle.

Expanded options through new tariffs

The SüdtirolPass acts as a personal, electronic ticket that can be used as an annual subscription for all public transport in South Tyrol. The special thing about it is that the pass can only be used by the respective holder. The kilometer tariff becomes cheaper the more kilometers are covered in the year.

An innovative additional offer includes two types of billing: Users can choose between a periodic debit directly from their bank account or a debit for each trip from the amount of money charged. The pass is also valid in the entire Südtirolmobil network area, including regional trains to Trento. These new tariffs also allow the use of Nightliner buses, although they are not valid for long-distance trains.

Increasing usage and investment

The introduction of the new subscription model comes at a time when over 50 million cancellations of South Tyrol passes were recorded in 2024. This equates to around 130,000 daily cancellations, underlining the growing trust in the public transport system. Joachim Dejaco, General Director of the STA, emphasizes the positive developments in this area.

In addition, Gunde Bauhofer from the consumer advice center emphasizes that the new subscription should be viewed as a “gap filler” in the previous offering. Future investments in expanding the network and infrastructure should not only significantly improve coverage, but also accessibility. Using public transportation can also significantly reduce car, gas, toll, maintenance and insurance costs.
