Oldenburg's construction miracle: New offices replace old insurance offices!
The public insurance company in Oldenburg has started demolishing an old building on the corner of Moslestrasse and Raiffeisenstrasse. The eight-story building of the state fire department will be demolished to make space for the construction of modern offices. The demolition, which began at the beginning of the year with the remediation of pollutants on the facade, is expected to be completed by the end of June or beginning of July 2023 nwzonline.de reported.
Once the demolition is complete, the new building will follow, which will use geothermal energy to provide heat. This means drilling up to 260 meters deep to develop a sustainable and efficient energy source. The new office space in the old and new buildings will total 6,175 square meters. The height of the new building will be almost 26 meters towards the street to the city museum, while that towards Moslestrasse and Raiffeisenstrasse will be almost 22 meters high.
Moving and work concept
The public can eagerly await the completion of the new offices: around 300 employees are expected to move into the new and renovated old buildings at the beginning of 2028. An innovative desk sharing concept is being implemented, in which there are no fixed workstations, which promotes flexible use of the offices.
The old building from 1978 on the dam has proven to be inefficient, with a poor usable space ratio and an unfavorable energy balance. Renovating the old building is viewed as time-consuming and of unsatisfactory quality. The architectural competition for the new building was won by Angelis and Partner from Oldenburg, which represents a further step towards a modern working environment.
Project overview and other construction projects
In addition to the new building plans for the public state fire fund, numerous other construction projects are being planned in the region, which are being supervised by KBG Architects. These include, among others:
- Neubau einer multifunktionalen Grundschule mit Veranstaltungszentrum und Sporthalle in Neu Wulmstorf.
- Erweiterung des BBS Technik und Neubau eines Lebensmittel-Technikums in Cloppenburg.
- Neubau des Rathauses Altenberge.
- Umgestaltung des Kirchenumfelds in Cloppenburg.
- Neubau eines Forschungs- und Trainingszentrums für Sport an der Universität Oldenburg.
These projects show the commitment of the city of Oldenburg and the surrounding communities to invest in modern infrastructure and educational facilities. The contemporary architecture aims to improve the quality of life in the region while incorporating environmentally friendly solutions.
The renovations and redesigns are a sign of change in Oldenburg, which is adapting to the requirements and needs of a growing population. The steps taken by public insurance are part of a comprehensive change in building and workplace concepts in the region.
