Premium growth of 7.4%: HDI reports business figures for 2023
HDI Insurance recorded a premium increase of 7.4 percent in 2023, which corresponds to a total value of 272 million euros. The majority of these premiums were earned in Austria. In total, the premiums written for direct business amounted to 245.31 million euros and for indirect business to 23.91 million euros. HDI Versicherung was able to increase premiums particularly in industrial insurance, with the areas of business liability, fire, transport and technical insurance making a significant contribution to this.
HDI Versicherung was also able to record growth in the private business area, with the premiums written increasing by 6.5 percent compared to the previous year. Growth of 7.1 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively, was recorded in the sub-areas of motor vehicle comprehensive insurance and motor vehicle liability for private customers. Nevertheless, there is a downward trend in the line of business motor vehicle liability due to the loss of a major customer.
The underwriting result of HDI Versicherung fell compared to the previous year from 13.2 million euros to 11.3 million euros. In contrast, the investment result improved from 1.2 million euros to 2.2 million euros. The result from ordinary business activities was 13.5 million euros, while the retained profit rose to 22.4 million euros. For 2024, HDI Versicherung expects a positive sales development despite continued high inflation rates compared to 2023. With a continued investment strategy, the company plans to achieve a good financial result for the coming year as well.
